Company Profile

NRG Resources Inc. provides safety and technical consulting and training services to the natural gas, propane, and fuel oil industries. If you are an industrial user of hydrocarbon fuelled appliances or a contractor/ technician seeking training on how to work on larger input fuel-fired appliances, we have the eNeRGy and Resources to meet your needs.

Based in Thornbury Ontario Canada, NRG Resources Inc. became federally incorporated in 2003. A new company, NRG grew out of a sole-proprietorship, Fuel Safe, and is built upon years of experience in the fuel-fired appliance service industry and training industry.

The owner of NRG Resources Inc., Rod Corea, actively organizes and works with a network of industry experts to solve clients needs related to fuel equipment and fuel training across Canada.

Rod is a Gas Technician 1, Oil Burner Technician 1, Liquid Propane Fitter and Petroleum Mechanic 1/2/3 certificate holder with 32 years experience in the oil and gas industry – 12 years of which he was employed at the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) as a Fuels Safety Inspector, Training Program Developer, and Training Consultant. He has taught technical training courses to over 5,000 technicians.

• Gas Technician Update Workshop Handbook for CSA / TSSA (2001)
  This one day mandatory course for all Gas Technicians in Ontario provided important information on the laws governing the gas appliance industry as well as changes to the Gas Codes. It was employed by over 100 instructors to train Ontario’s 35,000 gas technicians to meet the mandatory upgrade requirements of TSSA between 2001 and 2005. There was also a web-based version of the course.
• Oil Burner Technician Update Workshop Handbook for TSSA (2002)
  Similar to the Gas Technician Update, this two day course served the update needs of the fuel oil industry. It was employed by instructors to train over 5000 OBTs in Ontario between 2001 and 2005.
• Oil Burner Technician Update Workshop Home Study Program (2003)
  Similar to the Oil Technician Update, this video-based home study course was developed by NRG to serve the needs of technicians who could not attend a classroom training session. NRG created the 6 ½ hour video and training package that were employed by over 400 technicians in Ontario between 2003 and 2005.
• The Fuel Safe Manual – Handbook for the Fuels Safety Workshop
  Over 5000 copies of this manual were used by various trainers to deliver the upgrade program for natural gas fitters and propane fitters to become Gas Technicians in Ontario between 1996 and 2000.

NRG Resources also provides consultation services including safety audits, training assessments, and field approval of custom built fuel-fired appliances.
